Nordic Film Acting Institute – Superior Techniques & Artistic Entrepreneurship.

N.F.A.I specializes in training, teaching, coaching, and mentoring actors. We focus on talent development and the production of one’s own work.

Our concept is to focus on individual talent. Our courses never have more than four students at the same time. This is to ensure a high quality of technical standard where there is space to help the individual to achieve their goal regarding their artistic development.

The program and working methods are based on the BALCAZAR TEKNIK ®. This technique is our own unique film acting method, where the actors learn to control the bioenergetics processes in the emotional body to convey the dramatic literature.

The technique differs significantly from other film acting techniques as it embeds the film acting work in the right cerebral hemisphere, where sensation rather than analysis shapes the framework for the character and narrative.

At the same time as our students develop professionally, we emphasize that they must develop an entrepreneurial mentality, where they learn to manage and administrate their own talent in order to get the most out of their working lives. Both for the benefit of themselves and society.

In partnership with the socio-economic production company POTENTA we offer professional support so that students can carry out their own projects.

Emma Balcázar

Film director Emma Balcázar has 20 years’ experience in training and working with actors on an elite level. She has taught film acting both at the National Film School of Denmark and The Danish National School of Performing Arts. In January 2020 she left her position as an associate professor in film acting to establish The Nordic Film Acting Institute, where she trains actors in movie work through the Balcazar teknik®. The technique was developed, documented, and validated by The Danish National School of Performing Arts’ artistic research division.

Emma Balcázar has written and directed both fiction and documentaries and her films have been nominated for several awards among these The Robert Award for the best featurette (The Danish equivalent of the Oscars).

Other than N.F.A.I. Emma is the founder & director of Potenta. Potenta is a socioeconomic film production company that, with the motto ‘art for everybody’, focuses on creating a bridge between art, society, and the business world. Potenta produces and develops high-quality art content with the focus on the artist.
