Nordic Film Acting Institute – Superior Techniques & Artistic Entrepreneurship.

N.F.A.I specializes in training, teaching, coaching and mentoring actors. We focus on talent development and the production of one’s own work.

Our concept is to focus on the individual talent. Our long-term courses never have more than six students at a time. This is to ensure a high level of technical quality where there is space to help the individual reach their goal of artistic development.

The program and working methods are based on the BALCAZAR TEKNIK ®. This technique is our own unique method of film acting in which the actors learn to control the bioenergetic processes in the emotional body in order to convey the dramatic literature.

The technique differs significantly from other film acting techniques in that it embeds the work of film acting in the right hemisphere of the brain, where sensation rather than analysis provides the framework for character and narrative.

At the same time as our students develop professionally, we emphasize the need for them to develop an entrepreneurial mindset, where they learn to manage their own talent in order to get the most out of their working lives. For themselves and for society.

Emma Balcázar

Film director Emma Balcázar has 20 years of experience training and working with actors at an elite level. She has taught film acting at both the National Film School of Denmark and the Danish School of Performing Arts. In January 2020, she left her position as a lecturer in film acting to found The Nordic Film Acting Institute, where she trains actors in film work through the Balcazar technique®. The technique was developed, documented and validated under the Danish School of Performing Arts’ Artistic Development Company (KUV) program.

Emma Balcázar has written and directed both fiction and documentaries and her films have been nominated for numerous awards, including the Robert for Best Short Film.
