1-YEAR CERTIFICATE IN FILM ACTING

Do you dream of becoming a film actor who can really break through with amazing performances in front of a camera?

Then our one-year certificate in film acting based on Balcazar Teknik ® is something for you.

Our one-year certificate in film acting alternates between theory, practice, mentoring and coaching, and as the only one in Denmark, we provide professional film production as well. After each module, you will be allowed to work with professional filmmakers.

The course will give you a solid foundation of methods within instrumental work, character work, emotional communication, and performance analysis based on Balcazar Teknik ®

The course ends with professional production of your own creation – showreel. (optional)

How is the course in film acting balcazar technique structured?

Certificate in Film Acting – Balcazar Teknik® consists of 4 modules.

MODULE 1 – INSTRUMENT

Each module consists of:

Tuition twice a week from 9.00 – 13.00 according to school calendar
Individual talent screening with a focus on development and quality assurance of artistic and technical progression.
Mentoring and Coaching – one-to-one lessons, where we remove personal blockages and work with individual goals.
Collaboration with professional filmmakers.

ModulE 1:

INSTRUMENTAL WORK (SEPTEMBER-NOVEMBER)

Primary object:

The actors’ will learn to optimize their screen presence in front of a camera. Their strengths will be defined. One’s own emotional landscape and habitual thinking will be looked into, expanded, and optimized and you will learn the foundations of emotional communication and various tools for presence, centering, strengthening the senses, and action.

We will also work with the cinematic space and how you arrange a performance-time in front of the camera.

Talent screening – Individually – 1 ½ hour. We will start by doing a talent screening and a goal determination with a focus on optimizing the individual’s instrument. We will determine a personal goal based on resources, potential, and shortcomings.
Classes – 8 hours per week theoretical and practical lessons in the Balcazar Teknik® Instrumental work.
Mentoring and Coaching – on an individual basis 2×2 hours per module. We will work on removing personal blockages and focus on personal goals through emotional work and individual talent management.
Production – In collaboration with POTENTA one-day recordings, where we will produce professional sketches with a focus on instrumental work. We will work with various acting tools in front of the camera as well as body, choreography, and collaboration with the photographer.

ModulE 2:

CHARACTER WORK (DECEMBER-FEBRUARY)

Primary objective:

The actors will learn to build strong, three-dimensional characters that have a sound base in the human psyche and that function naturally in front of the camera.

In the lessons, actors are given various tools to both build characters and anchor themselves into navigating the emotional moments.

The purpose is to produce vivid and effective acting performances, where the actor does not have to get in touch with its own emotional matter to produce these emotions.

The emotions generated are genuine, but not their own. The actors will learn to work with emotional energy in character and thus release presence, strategies, and “external” emotional resources, which serve to release the capabilities of the instrument. We will also work on expanding the individual actor’s own color palette.

Talent screening – Individually – 2 hours. We will evaluate the student’s instrumental skills, do a talent screening and determine goals with a focus on character work. We will determine a personal goal based on resources, potential, and shortcomings.
Classes – 10 hours per week theoretical and practical lessons in the Balcazar Teknik® Instrumental work.
Mentoring and Coaching – on an individual basis 2×2 hours per module. We will work on removing personal blockages and focus on personal goals through emotional work and individual talent management.
3×20 sec. PERSONA stories – vertical film PERSONA – STORIES – VERTICAL FILM, where we focus on character creation and actor transformation. The films are suitable for professional branding and SoMe distribution, including Instagram.

ModulE 3:

WORK (MARCH-MAY)

Primary objective:

The actor learns to give the use of their instrument and make the created character available to the text.

The individual actor will learn to create messages that correspond with the character’s psychology. Based on the interaction between impressions and expressions, the actor will gain insight into how he/she/they can create dynamic and emotional precision in the development and turning points of the storytelling, without the performance seeming fake or forced.

We will work with texts and emotional communication, direction, journey, and dramaturgy.

Talent screening – Individually – 2 hours. We will evaluate character work and based on that do a talent screening and determine your goals with a focus on storytelling and action. We will determine a personal goal based on resources, potential, and shortcomings.
Classes – 10 hours per week theoretical and practical lessons in the Balcazar Teknik® text work.
Mentoring and Coaching – on an individual basis 2×2 hours per module. We will work on removing personal blockages and focus on personal goals through emotional work and individual talent management.

SHOWREEL & PROFESSIONAL BRANDING (JUNE-JULY)

SHOWREEL – in collaboration with POTENTA

Based on the actor’s own texts and wishes for professional branding, we produce a professional showreel of 3 minutes, which allows the actor the opportunity to show his/her talent and work in a professional context.

PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENT

You are passionate about learning to master film acting and believe in your talent. You can participate in at least 80% of the course.
You have social skills and can commit yourself constructively in a group.
You are ready to step out of your comfort zone so you can learn new things.
You are passionate about going into detail with the whole process – all year round, as registration is binding for the entire course.

APPICATION

To be considered for this course you must send a motivational letter, a cv, and a film (five minutes long) that showcases your skills in front of a camera. It can be a showreel, a self-tape, or a film clip you find relevant and representative of your work.

If you are one of the few selected, you will be invited to an interview before we can offer you a spot.
